ALASKA FISHING
If you've never been to Alaska... GO! It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
Leni and I were part of a group of 14 family members, ranging in age from 1 to 6? years old, and every single one of us had an incredible time. Between the towering mountains, whales, bears, bald eagles, glaciers, and endless beautiful water, Alaska exceeded every one of our expectations.
One of the highlights of our trip was salmon fishing out of Ketchikan. Even with a little rain, we had an absolute blast. Our captain, Clay Slanaker with Bites On Charters, (907-617-4184),angleworm2000@gci.net, was outstanding, one of the best fishing guides I've ever been around.
Enjoy the pictures!
By the end of the trip, we had caught 13 salmon, and all of them shipped back home to Texas. If you have a favorite salmon recipe, send it my way, I think we're going to be eating salmon for a while!
A couple of things to notice in the pictures...
Both Owen and Wilder are fishing with broken bones! That's what being 11 years old is all about. They never complained once, and they caught most of the fish! Tough boys!
And to all my USTA friends... I hope you noticed the hat!
I can't begin to express how incredible this trip was. Spending time with our children and grandchildren while experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Alaska was truly a blessing I'll never forget. Sometimes the best memories aren't measured by the fish you catch, but by the people you share the adventure with.
God has blessed us with an amazing family and an amazing country. We are grateful for every moment and looking forward to our next adventure.
